The Covenant in the Blood

Tammy Bruni

Luke 22:20 (NKJV):

"Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.'”

Have you ever thought about this scripture? The new covenant is in the blood of Jesus. So what does this mean?

I recently had an experience where I was praying in the spirit before taking communion in my morning time with God. Yes, I take communion daily. It is something I want to encourage. If life is in the blood, why would we only want to partake once a month or when our church has communion Sunday? I would want that life to be present all the time, especially if it is the life of Christ.

Back to my experience. I saw myself in front of an empty cross, and as I prayed, it was as if the veil lifted and I entered through the cross to another dimension. It was a spiritual place. I saw a podium and on this podium was a scroll. I knew this represented the new covenant. Jesus appeared from behind the podium and welcomed me in this place. I had the sense that it was in the blood - it was a real place I could enter into, just like I can enter into His love. I sensed Jesus giving me the scroll to eat and as it entered in, it was a partnership with the blood that held the life of Christ.

In the Bible, a covenant is a sacred agreement or promise between God and His people. It is more than a contract; it is a deeply relational bond based on faithfulness and trust. Covenants often include commitments, blessings, and, at times, conditions that both parties agree to honour. Just like a marriage covenant.

Key Aspects of Biblical Covenants:

  1. God's Initiative: Covenants are often initiated by God as a way to establish a relationship with humanity.

  2. Promises and Responsibilities: They contain promises from God (such as blessings or salvation) and often require faith or obedience in return.

  3. Sign or Symbol: Many covenants include a sign or symbol to remember the agreement (e.g., the rainbow for Noah’s covenant).

In my case, I felt the symbol was the scroll and the eating of the scroll. This is not unbiblical we see it in the Word of God several times.

For me, the most important part of this is, is that it is a new covenant, which means that the old has passed away. When we covenant with God through the blood of Jesus, we receive the newness of life through His sacrifice. The blood of Jesus holds the record of perfection. We can only come to the Father through His Son Jesus, who made a way through His blood. His blood holds this perfect record that displays the glory of God, so we need to partake of His blood to clean up the record in our DNA so we can be holy, so we can fully house and display His glory and His light. Our record has been corrupted but His is perfect. We need to deal with what is in the darkness by bringing His light in.

John 6:53-57 (NKJV):

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me.

Jesus says in John 6v48 that He is the "bread of life". So we see that we have two elements here - the bread and the blood that brings life. Unless we partake of Jesus, we have no life. That is something to think about. Jesus sacrifice for us did so much for us. Covered our sin, carried our iniquities, healed our diseases, in essesnce gave us new life.

I want to encourage you to start to take this seriously as a weapon and as a way to renew your spirit, soul and body. To renew your DNA to carry His record within you. Receive what was made available to you through His body and His blood for new life! When you covenant with the blood of Jesus, you are also accessing the voice of the blood that speaks on your behalf (Hebrews 12v24). Make this a daily practice and record the things in your life - emotionally, physically, and spiritually that need to shift. Revisit this after a month or so and see if anything has changed.

Bless you all today in the mighty name of Yeshua!
