The Flame of God

Hebrews 12:29 (NKJV)"For our God is a consuming fire.
In this scripture we see God's holiness and power, likening Him to a consuming flame that purifies and refines.
I like to share my personal experiences with God. My hope is that others will be inspired to enter His presence more and spend time with Him so He can reveal deeper things, not only about ourselves and our world but also about Himself.
I saw myself standing in His presence. I have made it a practice daily, some times many times a day, to take that step into His presence and then out again into this realm. We need to practice this because it is ours as believers through Jesus Christ to have this entry into His presence. As I stood in His presence, I saw a flame start to burn from my feet up, engulfing me. It was a white flame. I could feel my body start to radiate heat, it was hot but it did not scorch or sear me. Something I imagine like the fire in the bush that Moses saw.
Exodus 3:2 (NKJV)"And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
The Lord said to me as I stood there " Allow Me to consume what is not of Me. Don't be afraid of it. It will leave the beauty behind of what I have made, of who you are."
It made me think of the scripture in Isaiah 61v3 "To give them beauty for ashes".
Deuteronomy 4:24 says "For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. (NKJV).
The Lord does not want us to carry anything that will take our attention away from the things of God. Away from Him. Not in a narcissitic way, but in a way that also carries our best interests. As our Father and as our Creator, He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what we need to become all that He created us to be. If our focus is on Him and what He has planned for us and for our part in the world, we are less likely to get caught up in things that do not profit us.
We need to give ourselves over to Him to burn out what needs to be burnt out. The flame of God purifies, it sanctifies and it also reveals those things that defile, just like the fire separates the dross from the silver and gold. Do not be surprised if you allow this process that He will reveal your darkest areas, hidden away that need a touch from Him. Things like rejection, abandonment, pain and hurt, and trauma are all things that need to be healed and if we have been covering this up just to get by, the fire will reveal but also bring healing as it is exposed and separated from that which is our original design. He often uses His word to reveal things, and that is also why the Word of God brings a washing and a cleansing. It reveals what needs to be dealt with.
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV):
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
We also need to let Him test our works by His fire. Bring before the Lord the things that you are busy with and ask Him to refine those things, to remove that which is our works and not part of His plan for us. Let us make sure we build on what He has laid for us, that we are working toward the vision, toward what is written about us and for us in our scroll.
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (NKJV) "Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."
This passage reveals that God will test the quality of our works through His refining fire. It emphasises that only what is built on Christ and of eternal value will endure. It reminds us to live purposefully, building our lives on the foundation of faith and obedience to God.
Don't be afraid to allow the flame of God to consume you and your works, to reveal that which is hidden and to purify and sanctify. It may feel like pain or discomfort for a little while but it will reveal the beauty as He brings about the transformation.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV) "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
Be blessed today in the mighty name of Yeshua!
